Olympic National Park is a must for anyone who visits the Pacific Northwest, it literally has something for everyone. The photo above pretty much sums the trip up. Taken on top of Mt Storm King looking over Lake Crescent, it's the best view I've ever seen in my life! It was a good hour and a half hike up to the the 2200ft summit with the last couple of hundred feet being a knife edge scramble with a 500ft drop either side of you. Thankfully there were a few ropes to hang on to during the particulary steep loose edges, but one slip and you were sliding down the mountain to a painful end. But it was certainly worth it, being rewarded with the view from the top was breathtaking.
If you are ever passing through the area stop at the Marymere Falls Ranger station which gives several trails, one to Marymere Falls, which I didn't do. Or attempt the slightly more challenging Mt Storm King summit! Then take a cool dip in the lake itself to refresh after a hot hike.
I will be posting a few more reviews of places in the park along a short video of the trip once it's finished! But in the mean time check my Instagram as I'll be posting daily with photos from PNW and Chicago!
